GitOps Implementation

GitOps uses versioned, declarative desired state and automated reconciliation to manage systems. It adds a reviewable relationship between approved configuration and the environment that runs it.

  • Define the desired-state boundary
  • Implement reconciliation
  • Handle drift and failure

Is this right for you?

When this is the right work.

Environment changes drift from version control or recovery depends on undocumented manual steps.

The first conversation establishes the environment, the constraint and who will accept the result. We agree a bounded starting point before expanding the engagement.

Scope

What DotConn delivers.

  1. 01

    Define the desired-state boundary

Choose which infrastructure or application configuration belongs in Git and who approves it.

  2. 02

    Implement reconciliation

Connect the selected delivery controller, configuration structure and environment permissions.

  3. 03

    Handle drift and failure

Agree rollback behavior, secret handling, exceptions and the response when reconciliation cannot converge.

Deliverables

What you receive.

Acceptance criteria identify the checks, records and handover needed for the agreed scope.

  • Repository and environment design
  • GitOps controller and deployment configuration
  • Drift, rollback and exception runbooks

In practice

A practical example.

The situation

A Kubernetes environment has undocumented live changes.

Our approach

We define a controlled configuration source, introduce reconciliation and make exceptional changes visible.

The useful result

The customer can review how an approved state becomes a running environment.

Responsibility

Agree the responsibility.

DotConn

Assesses and delivers the technical work in the agreed scope, with reviewable changes and handover. Continuing operation requires a separately defined managed-service scope.

Your team

Provides authorized access, business priorities and accountable decision-makers; approves policy choices and accepts the agreed result.

Set this boundary early

GitOps is an operating approach, not a substitute for testing. Secrets, destructive changes and break-glass actions require explicit controls.

FAQ

Questions worth resolving.

Is GitOps the same as a CI/CD pipeline?

No. CI can build and test artifacts; GitOps reconciles declared environment state. They can work together in a delivery system.

Pricing, timing and how to prepare are covered in working with DotConn.
